The best thing about this makeover other than that it turned out so beautiful is the price. The cost for all the furniture and accessories comes to less than $2,000. Kinda blew my mind once I had finished the design and shopping.
Can’t say living rooms that nice come in under $2K often; rare actually. I should say the cost does not include the cost of the chandelier light (it was existing).
Admittedly, it’s certainly not pushing any design boundaries. It’s comfortably ensconced within a conservative transitional design. Safe furniture picks. Safe color picks. Safe layout.

The Starting Point
The starting point is a plain room. The light wood flooring is an asset for sure.
Foundation: White seating. I started by focusing solely on white furniture for both sofa and accent chairs. I like the monochrome upholstered furniture with the white walls and the chandelier.
Stacking colors and styles: Dark tables for contrast was absolutely necessary to avoid a monochrome design (which can work but it wasn’t what I wanted for this room).
The finishing touches: Gold candle holders for a dash of shimmer. I also incorporated a bit of gold with the white and gold throw pillows.
Tied it together with the rug and light gray table lamps.
The color palette for this room
Colors are from Benjamin Moore. For example, Midnight Dream 2129-10 is a specific black offered by Benjamin Moore. The HEX number is provided in case you wish to have the digital color (which you can use to match with other paint companies here).

3 Furniture Layouts
Two layouts work well in this space. It’s a simple rectangle space. Not open concept, the space is limited which means limited arrangement options.
More seating could work. For instance, there’s space for another sofa and then flank the fireplace with the accent chairs. This would add $1,000 to the budget which is still a great outcome. It could be a little tight if you prefer more open space (like I do).
