In my house growing up, we had an Everything Drawer: a pull-out next to the fridge that was designated solely for odds and ends. Rubber bands, pens, grocery lists, batteries, and the occasional dog collar all lived here. Not sure where something goes? Stick it in the Everything Drawer.

Every house needs an Everything Drawer, but I don’t (currently) have a drawer to spare. Instead, on the hunt for attractive, non-plastic storage options, I came upon these glossy oval boxes. Made by Japanese brand Classiky and designed to resemble Japanese bento boxes, they’re technically made for foodstuffs, but they’d be equally brilliant put to use all over the house: one by the front door for keys, another in the W.C. for Q-tips and such, one for sewing notions…
