Danish midcentury designer Børge Mogensen was traveling through Spain when he took note of an ornate chair with wide armrests traditional to Spanish medieval furniture construction. Inspired by the style, he designed the Spanish Chair in 1958 with a low oak frame and heavy saddle leather sling seat. Iterations on that design have since followed; here are our favorites.
